Dermatologist, you say?
How do you know when it’s time to see a dermatologist especially if you’ve never seen one? Seriously we are not judging you at all.
Dermatologists are doctors who specialize in the treatment of skin conditions (that also includes hair and nails). Dermatology is the branch of medicine that deals with hair, nail, and skin diseases.
Many people do not take dermatologist visits seriously (we weren’t kidding when we said many people have never even seen one). Tbh, many of us (yes, including ourselves) take our skin for granted, especially if it is ‘low maintenance.’ It is, however, better now that more people are taking skincare seriously. Who doesn’t want clear, radiant skin?
Applying skincare and beauty products to the skin to conceal blemishes does more harm than good. When your skin is in good condition, products work well and your makeup looks flawless.
(Take this as a sign if you’ve never seen one before after going through this post).
So if you notice these signs especially if you don’t see a dermatologist very often, it’s time to make an appointment.
- Stubborn acne/blemishes
When acne on your face, neck, and back, among other parts of your body, refuses to clear up despite several topical treatments and dietary changes, it’s time to consult a professional.
- You’re concerned about the physical quality and overall feel of your skin
Sometimes you just know deep down that you need to see a dermatologist. When your skin is lacklustre or dull and doesn’t feel well physically after using products that should have a visible effect on it, you should see a dermatologist.
- You have a mole out of nowhere
If you notice a persistent mole on your face or any other part of your body, especially if it appears suddenly, you should consult a dermatologist.
- You’ve never seen one before
If you’ve never been to a dermatologist to have your skin checked, now is the time. It is incorrect to continue slathering products on the skin without first determining what works best for it.
So go ahead and treat yourself a little; after all, your skin deserves it!
