How to shrink large pores?

Large pores on the face are usually a result of excess oil sitting around the skin’s pores – pores are small openings covering the body, they surround each hair follicle on the body and are in place to keep the body cool but sometimes they become enlarged.

Large pores can also be totally due to genetics. Oily skin that’s not properly cleansed for instance can also have oil settling around the pores making them appear enlarged.

When the pores are enlarged it’s easy for them to keep getting clogged with makeup products and dust (mixed with sebum) for instance making the skin’s appearance dull.

It’s best to have a routine that features deep cleansing and exfoliation to get rid of dirt, dead skin cells and other bits (aha remember we mentioned this here and here) to keep the pores tight.

One important thing to do every day if you want to shrink large pores especially when you shower with hot/warm water is to always finish off by splashing cold water on the face to close the pores after treating them to a wash each day.

You can also avoid this by sleeping on a clean pillow, cleaning your cellphone often (this is one of the most common ways you get breakouts), avoiding touching your face and generally staying away from products that are not non-comedogenic (non-comedogenic means they won’t clog pores).

Opt for light, gel-based moisturizers and lotions but if you have noticeable pores, this simple at-home treatment is a sure way to keep them closed.
