The 2023 GT Fashion Week officially kicked off today and it has been a surge of energy.
Getting to the event, we are transported to a fashion market that reminds us of Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills. With dummy boutiques lined up after each other at the entrance as part of the decor on one side.

While another part of the exterior had various vendors with their wares and food displayed.

Moving inside you see a full-on market with all things fashion! This makes us kind of put some swag into our steps because the environment is charged with excitement.

By 3 pm they make a call for the first master class to commence. It is Julee Wilson, the Beauty Editor-at-Large at Cosmopolitan. Julee has worked with top stars like Lato, and Tracee Ellis to mention a few. She speaks about her career and pride in being a black woman, being a black voice in a company that has people of colour in the minority and being a voice at the table. She also touches on the relevance of having a strong support system in her circle of friends, family and her Husband.

And Sergio Hudson a fashion designer came up to share some of his experiences as well. Sergio has also worked with big names like Michelle Obama, Blake Lively, and Beyoncé to name a few.

Jawara Wauchope came in and did a hair demo right after he shared his career journey, the thought process behind his hair techniques and the people he had worked with. Aside from styling the hair of celebrities like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Naomi Campbell amongst many others, Jawara also does a lot of runway hair styling.

Right after the masterclass, they announced the start of the runway show and off we went to see the collections. Designers like Banke Kuku, Mazelle, Loza, Bruce Glen, and Theophilio wrapped up the experience for the day.
